Fitting in fitness

FittingInFitnessYou’re too busy to exercise, we know. In today’s culture of over-booked, over-planned days, it can be hard to find the time to do something you enjoy, much less something you don’t. The irony is that exercising even a few minutes a day can give you the energy to do more of the things you want to do. The time has come, so to speak, to learn about exercise options for busy people.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (BlueKC) invites you on March 18 to the online webinar, Fitting in Fitness: Exercise Options for Busy People, where you’ll learn how to stick with fitness despite your hectic schedule.

During the class, you learn guidelines for a balanced fitness program, tips to fit in fitness and five keys to success for healthy behaviors.

Even if you can’t spare 30 minutes a day at one time for exercise, there is research to support the benefit of shorter bursts of activity, provided that they add up to 30 minutes a day, according to

Researchers at Oregon State University found evidence that people who use the “active lifestyle” approach to exercise (participating in bouts of 10 minutes or more of physical activity multiple times during the day) met federal guidelines for being active, reports

“Not only did more people in the active lifestyle group meet federal guidelines, but also they fared as well as people who exercised for longer stretches in key measures of health, such as C-reactive protein, blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, waist circumference and metabolic syndrome,” says

In addition to these tangible results, exercise can also boost your mood and improve your self esteem.
