Flu Shots are Coming…

Flu season is fast approaching and with that comes flu shot events. Fountain of Health has partnered with Meritas Health and North Kansas City Hospital to provide onsite flu shot events this year. Onsite events will be available to city employees and retirees. You do not have to have the city’s insurance to participate. However, you do need to bring your insurance card and driver’s license with you to the event.

If you cannot make one of the flu shot events:

Starting Thursday, October 1 – You can make an appointment at the Employee Health Care Trust Clinic (2400 Troost) for preservative free flu shots, 65+ flu shots, Pneumonia shots (1 year later you would need a 2nd shot), and Shingle shots (2-part vaccine for those 50 and over – 2-4 months after first shot you would need to go back to clinic for a 2nd shot). For the Pneumonia or Shingles shot – call 2 days before you would like to get the shot to make sure they have the vaccines. The clinic is available to employees, spouses, dependents 6 months and up, and retirees on the city’s BCBS medical insurance. Due to COVID, you must call to schedule an appointment.

Starting Tuesday, September 1 – The Employee Health Care Trust Kiosk (8th floor, west side City Hall) will have preservative free flu shots available. The kiosk will not offer the 65+ flu shot, the Pneumonia shot, or Shingles shot. The kiosk is available for employees, spouses, dependents 18 months and up, and retirees on the city’s BCBS medical insurance.

Please remember that the Health Care Trust Clinic and Kiosk are free to employees, spouses, dependents, and retirees on the City’s BCBS medical insurance. The clinic and kiosk are not available to those not on the city’s BCBS medical insurance.
