It’s Time for Action on Open Enrollment
The KCMO Employee Benefits Open Enrollment period is upon us:  Monday, March 2nd through Friday, March 20th.  This includes medical benefits, as well as dental, vision, long term care, life and disability insurance, your flexible spending account, and more. Packets are being mailed to all active employees; information is also available on, or contact the Human Resources Benefits Division at 816-513-1932.
What’s Your Deciding Plan Factor?
Low deductible? Out of pocket maximum? Access to a given hospital or doctor? With nine plans from which to choose, there is a plan that will optimally fit your needs, and it's very important for you to analyze the options and figure out which plan is best for you and your family. The new EPO (Exclusive Provider Organization) Premium plan, for example, offers access to the BlueSelect Plus network. Learn more about this and all the plans at

Open Enrollment Meetings
A series of meetings will be held at various locations March 2nd through March 20th, during which employees will hear from Blue KC and other vendors regarding programs and plans. You’ll  have the opportunity to ask questions, and to log into your PeopleSoft account to select and adjust your benefits. IT department representatives will be on hand to assist you as needed. A Message for HMO Plan Participants
This is an Active Open Enrollment for HMO Plan Members. If you are currently enrolled in the HMO Medical plan you MUST go into the PeopleSoft system and select your medical plan of choice during Open Enrollment. If you do not, you will default into the NEW Blue Select EPO Premium.     

  • Employees currently enrolled in an HMO Medical plan are required to attend a mandatory one-on-one meeting with Blue KC. A postcard has been mailed to your home with instructions on how to schedule your meeting.

Medical Benefits: It's Your Choice
For 2020, Open Enrollment is passive, which means that if you don’t actively select a new plan, your existing plan will remain in force. (The exception being for HMO Plan participants, as noted above.) For questions regarding medical plan options during Open Enrollment, contact the Blue KC Customer Service Unit at 816-395-2969.

Dental Plan Offerings 
In addition to the existing Humana Dental Plans, a new Blue KC Dental PPO offering has been added, which includes orthodontic benefits (braces and other corrective procedures) for kids and adults, tooth implants, and a wide variety of dental services. Watch for details in your member packet or contact the City’s dedicated Blue KC Customer Service Unit at 816-395-2969.

Kiosk services are available to:
  • Employees
  • Retirees
  • And family members (18-months and older) enrolled in the City's BCBS insurance plans
